"Marriage disease" requires husband and wife to treat together

A long-lasting treatment made Ms. Chen realize for the first time that there is not only "couple resemblance" in the world, but also "couple disease". At the end of 2007, Ms. Chen went to the hospital for treatment of cervical erosion and recovered quickly. But just after the Spring Festival, she felt unwell again and had to go to the hospital again. After examination, the doctor found that Ms. Chen's condition had worsened. The doctor thought for a while and suggested that her husband come for a check-up as well. It turned out that her husband had a foreskin that was too long. In other words, because the husband's foreskin was too long, the bacteria in the smegma were transmitted to his wife through sexual intercourse, causing the disease to reoccur. The doctor's diagnosis was: Ms. Chen continued to receive treatment for local cervical inflammation, while her husband had to undergo a circumcision. This is a typical case of treating "husband-wife disease" together.

The source of "couple disease"

In addition to bacterial infection, "couple disease" may also be related to living in the same environment, facing the same potential pathogenic factors, or having common bad living habits. For example, if a couple has poor eating habits and does not like to exercise, they may both suffer from "rich diseases" such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and gout.

There is another kind of "couple disease" that is more hidden and difficult to talk about, that is sexual dysfunction. A reporter from Popular Health Network learned from the Andrology Center of Peking University First Hospital that after the hospital conducted a survey on the sexual function of more than 1,000 patients with erectile dysfunction (ED) and their spouses, it was found that among husbands under the age of 30, about 10% of spouses also had sexual dysfunction; for those aged 30-40, the proportion rose to 20.6%, and among those aged 40-50, more than 50% of spouses had sexual dysfunction. "Many ED patients come to see a doctor, only to find that they are fine, and the root cause is their wife."

Sexual function is affected by many factors

Including physiological, psychological, and even social factors. For example, after giving birth, a wife will give more attention and care to the child and ignore the needs of her husband, or even go without sex for a long time, which can easily lead to secondary disuse sexual dysfunction in men. If the husband suffers from cardiovascular disease and is afraid of sex, the wife's sexual desire will be affected in the long run, and she may even become frigid.

Among male sexual dysfunctions, ED is the most common. "Once the husband's sexual desire declines and leads to ED, it should be advocated that the husband and wife treat it together." Guo Jun said, "The husband and wife are witnesses, victims, supporters and direct participants of each other's sexual function. If you want the other party to maintain good sexual health, both of them should take this responsibility."

If the husband only has psychological ED, the doctor needs to provide sexual psychology counseling to both parties and teach them the correct way to express love to each other. If necessary, the doctor will prescribe PDE5 inhibitors, such as Levitra, which are the first-line ED treatment drugs currently used more frequently in clinical practice. For organic ED, drugs such as Levitra can improve erectile function and should be taken on demand for a long time; for psychogenic ED, after taking Levitra and other drugs and having successful sexual intercourse several times, the patient will rebuild his self-confidence and his erectile function will be fully restored.
