Is having strong sexual fantasies a disease?

Regarding sexual fantasies during lovemaking, some people have put forward such a view. They believe that before the sexual tension of men is released, their facial muscles are stretched very tight, or even spasmed, resulting in an ugly expression, so women are unwilling to open their eyes to look. They would rather close their eyes and imagine in their minds that the person becoming one with them is a handsome man rather than their husband.

Isn't this a bit ridiculous? I think few people can accept it, at least no one dares to admit it publicly in front of their husband. You can say that this view is ridiculous, but whether you dare to admit it is another matter. However, you cannot deny the fact that according to a survey by sex experts, a considerable number of women have had similar fantasies during sexual life and can use them to increase their sexual excitement. Once they understand this fact, many men will feel ashamed, thinking that it is their poor image and ability that cause women to have sexual fantasies. Many women themselves feel uneasy and guilty about this sexual fantasy and therefore deliberately suppress it. In fact, both ideas are wrong.

If it is directed at a sexual object, it constitutes a fantasy of abusing the sexual object; if it is directed at oneself, it constitutes a fantasy of being sexually abused. ② Under the influence of traditional sexual repression ideas, women often have a sense of shame or guilt about sexual behavior. If they imagine themselves to be actively pursuing sex in their sexual fantasies, it will cause self-guilt or anxiety. At this time, through the "reverse formation" psychological defense mechanism, they fantasize about the "rape" being imposed on themselves, which allows themselves to enjoy sexual pleasure and find reasons to justify themselves.

In short, sexual fantasies are a common psychological phenomenon that is usually harmless or even beneficial. It can be used as a "psychological aphrodisiac" for sexual excitement, and also as a psychological defense mechanism, replacing unattainable sexual pursuits to obtain partial sexual and psychological satisfaction. However, if one is overly addicted to sexual fantasy daydreams that affect normal life, or even has overly bizarre fantasies and firmly believes them to be real, then this is pathological fantasy or delusion, which may be a manifestation of schizophrenia or other mental illnesses, and in this case one should seek help from a psychiatrist.
