After a busy week of work, weekends are a good time for us to relax. However, relaxation does not mean indulgence. If you always fall into the following bad habits, not only will you not be able to relax your mind, but it will also make your body more unhealthy.

I sleep until I can't open my eyes anymore


We go to bed early and get up early during the five days of work, and we don’t have to worry about getting up early the next day on weekends. Therefore, many people stay up late playing games online based on the principle of “no waste”, or even stay up all night. However, staying up late not only reduces one’s immunity, allowing viruses to take advantage of the opportunity to invade, but also makes people slow to react, dizzy and have headaches the next day, and spend the two days of the weekend in a daze.

In addition, repeatedly staying up late will disrupt the body's normal secretion and nervous system, leading to problems such as dry, dull skin, and acne. Therefore, you should be moderate in your weekend fun and it is best to end it before 10 p.m. If you go to bed late, you should eat some fruits, vegetables, and protein foods such as meat and eggs the next day.


Waking up until the sun is high in the sky


Almost everyone wants to sleep in on the weekends. This may seem like it would allow the body to get some rest, but in fact, sleeping too long will do more harm than good to the body. Just like staying up late, sleeping too long will disrupt the body's biological clock, cause endocrine abnormalities, and affect the quality of sleep at night. If you miss breakfast because of sleeping in, it will affect your gastrointestinal function and muscle excitability, and you will feel sore and weak after getting up. Even on weekends, you should get up around 7 o'clock, have bowel movements and urinate, and eat breakfast on time.


One meal hungry, one meal full


Often overeating at weekend gatherings with friends, or simply staying at home and only eating one meal a day, these bad habits will seriously affect your happy weekend.

Overeating may cause dizziness, gastrointestinal discomfort, chest tightness, shortness of breath, diarrhea or constipation, and in severe cases may cause acute gastroenteritis or gastric bleeding; eating too much meat and drinking large amounts of alcohol may overload the liver and gallbladder, leading to liver damage and even inducing cholecystitis or acute pancreatitis. It is recommended to have three meals regularly on weekends. Breakfast should never be skipped and dinner should be eaten until 80% full.


Thinking about work while taking a break


"Workaholics" often think about work even when they are resting. Not only do they not have fun, they also don't get much work done. In fact, for white-collar workers, weekends are the best time for physical rest and mental adjustment. Fully relaxing the body and mind will help them to work in the best condition next week.

If you are still obsessed with work during the weekend and have no way to relieve your physical fatigue, it will not only lead to a decrease in efficiency but also cause psychological frustration. It is recommended to treat the weekend with "zero burden", so that both the body and mind can be completely freed from work and enjoy the weekend.


Spending the weekend alone


Many people spend their weekends because they are too lazy to meet up with friends and stay at home alone. From a psychological perspective, appropriate "alone time" and examining one's inner self can give oneself a space and opportunity to completely relax.

However, if you are always alone, it may disrupt your psychological balance, leading to loneliness, indifference, negativity and fatigue, deepening the distance and estrangement between people, and even in severe cases inducing depression and causing mental illness. Therefore, even if you are single, it is best to spend the weekend with your family and friends. You may want to have dinner with friends or go shopping with colleagues.


Sitting in front of the TV and computer all day


When watching TV, the body moves less and the head remains in one position for a long time, which makes the neck muscles tired and stiff, and can induce cervical spine problems over time; when focusing on the TV or computer, the number of blinks will decrease, which reduces the secretion of tears. At the same time, the eyeballs are exposed to the air for a long time, causing the water to evaporate too quickly, causing dry and tired eyes, and in severe cases, damaging the cornea; the colored light of the screen can also irritate the eyes, causing dry eyes, double vision, blurred vision and even headaches.

Therefore, when watching TV on weekends, do not watch it for too long. Get up and move around every 30 minutes. The light in the room should not be too dim or too bright, and you should consciously blink more often when watching TV.


Stay at home all weekend


Health is inseparable from sunshine, and daily outdoor activities are very necessary for people. It is recommended that even if you do not plan to go out on the weekend, you should go downstairs and take a slow walk for half an hour around 10 am, bask in the sun, and "clean" your lungs with fresh air. Proper exercise can also burn fat and lose weight.
