The woman's reaction to it was so real when she first encountered it

People all have a curiosity mentality and want to try new things. As little boys and girls they would wonder why he had a penis and she didn't. During adolescence, sex attracts ignorant boys and girls to a certain extent. When women see or touch a penis for the first time, what is their reaction? Curiosity, disgust, or fear?

Dr. Wang, a scholar from the University of Hong Kong, and scholars from the University of Toronto jointly conducted a survey on adolescent sex education in Hong Kong, involving young women's "experiences about the penis." The results show that despite various social efforts to limit girls' access to the penis, the reality is that they still have easy access to the penis through various channels.

The girls surveyed were divided into nine typical groups. Although most of the respondents expressed their "normal" reactions to the penis - disgust and disgust, some of the respondents still talked about their positive experiences: powerful, mysterious and fulfilling.

As a part of the male body, the penis is often considered to be something that cannot be seen and needs to be hidden. There is also an unspoken norm in people's daily discourse that prohibits women from talking casually about men's penises. The penis needs to be hidden because it can become a powerful tool for sexually assaulting women, thus posing a threat to them.

In Hong Kong, women who stumble across a penis or its symbols generally feel embarrassed, shocked or disgusted. They come into contact with the penis through many channels, including: family, neighbors, exhibitionists, pornography, intimate partners, etc. This article documents how young women in Hong Kong come into contact with the penis as they grow up, how they adjust to their sexual identities, and how they control and shape their sexuality under specific social norms.

First impression

Many respondents said that the first time they saw a penis was from their father. The adjectives they used were "weird", "embarrassing", "scared", etc. This strong sense of taboo confirms that the rule that "the penis cannot be seen" is commonly observed.

One respondent described in detail an incident that happened to her when she was 8 years old:

I used to sleep in the same bed with my dad. My dad was a boxer and he always wore boxing clothes. He likes to sleep with his legs lifted up, so I saw that. I thought it was funny, so I just kept staring at it when my dad fell asleep. One day, my mother found out and told my father to wear pants at home from now on.

In this example, the mother is the enforcer of this rule. There is no doubt that a penis should not be seen by one's daughter, and this idea is instilled in girls, even though the girl actually thinks her father's penis is "funny."

Another girl, who lives under the same roof as her landlord, described the first time she saw a penis:

We don't have a TV, so I watch it in the living room. Normally I would sit on a stool outside our room and watch TV while my mom would be busy with her things somewhere else. Once I saw the landlord unzipping his trousers, and it seemed like something was moving up and down.

I used to like eating smoked sausages. At that time, I wondered why the landlord put the smoked sausages there, so I went to the kitchen to check. I also told my mother that the landlord hid the smoked sausages under his crotch. Since then, my mother would not let me go out of my room.

Another girl shared her thoughts on the boy next door:

We have known each other for more than ten years and used to hang out together. When I was in Form 2 or Form 3, I suddenly noticed that he often played with his "little brother". He always puts his hands down his trousers, and I think his posture is ugly. I think he's really disgusting.

These and other examples involve possible sexual harassment or even sexual abuse. In many societies, including Hong Kong, it is widely believed that the penis must be hidden from view by women except in certain approved circumstances (such as between married couples).

Unexpected encounter with "exhibitionist"

A surprising finding from this survey is that almost all respondents have had the experience of seeing "exhibitionists". The typical reaction is to run away in disgust and fear after seeing it, often feeling violated, harassed, or even threatened and in danger. One respondent reported:

I was in Form 2 at the time and it was the first time I saw a real penis. It was lunch time and there were a lot of garbage trucks outside the school. One of the cars had its door open and a guy was standing there masturbating. He looks like an idiot. All the girls passing by saw it and ran away. I was terrified.

There are also many stories of sexual harassment taking place in various other social settings, including buses and subways. Most of these narratives focus on unattractive strangers who force girls to feel like helpless victims. These accounts reflect a common view among women: that men who expose their penises are preparing for aggressive action, even if the "exposure" is not directed specifically at them. One girl interviewed said:

I saw an exhibitionist, he was lying on a building and I saw this thing standing there. It's so disgusting.

Here is another account:

I think men are just annoying. I saw it (the penis) when I was preparing for my proficiency exams when I was around 18-19. I was a student in a girls' school at that time. There was a man who always masturbated in front of us girls. He faced our classroom and he was usually there during lunch time. Our teacher would close the curtains and ask us to go away. But as soon as our teacher left, we would open the curtains to see what was going on.
