Does genital herpes hurt or itch?

Genital herpes is a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease that has a great impact on the patient's physical health. It often causes itching and pain in the affected area. It can cause skin damage in the affected area and the appearance of red papules. In more serious cases, it can also cause ulcers and erosions, often leading to infertility in patients and even inducing other more serious diseases.

1. Skin damage

Patients with genital herpes will experience skin lesions, and male patients will experience skin damage on the penis, glans, foreskin and other parts of the body.

2. Red papules

Patients with genital herpes initially experience local redness, burning, and mild itching, which quickly turn into rice-sized red papules. Later, as the disease progresses, the rash gradually spreads, eventually connecting into several more obvious red papules. It quickly turns into blisters, which form ulcers, scabs, and pain after a few days, and may cause local lymph node enlargement.

3. Severe itching

Patients with genital herpes are prone to severe itching at the infected site, and may have symptoms such as fever, general discomfort, and headache before becoming ill.

4. Erosion or ulcer

There are also many female patients with genital herpes, and this is the first time they are infected with genital herpes. The incubation period is 2-14 days, with an average of 3-5 days. The skin lesions are clustered or scattered small blisters, which break down after 2-4 days to form erosions or ulcers, and then scab over and heal on their own, causing pain.

Genital herpes can be recurrent, and recurrent herpes is the most common type of genital herpes. What are the early symptoms of genital herpes? Herpes also refers to the recurrence of primary genital herpes lesions within 1-4 months after the disappearance of the disease, and the lesions usually appear at the original site. The skin lesions are similar to primary genital herpes, but the condition is milder, the course is shorter, and there are often prodromal symptoms (local burning, tingling, or paresthesia) before the rash.
