Feminists have very strong opinions on contraception. Why are women always asked to take pills or have IUDs inserted, while men only need to wear a condom? It's so unfair! This view is too one-sided and a bit selfish. It's not that medical scientists are biased, but it's really troublesome and painful for men to use contraception. Because there is currently no contraceptive drug suitable for men to take, for two reasons. First, it is related to the function of their gonads. Normal testicles produce millions of sperm every day, and each sperm dreams of entering the female reproductive tract, while women only release one egg every month. Compared to destroying millions of sperm, inhibiting ovulation is child's play. Testosterone is the primary driving force behind sperm production, but it is also responsible for male sexual desire, erections, and the release of sperm into the female reproductive tract. Therefore, any method that interrupts both testosterone secretion and spermatogenesis will inevitably lead to a decrease in male sexual activity. Since the couple can no longer have sex, what is the point of using contraception? Second, suppose a method is invented for men that is as effective as the female contraceptive pill. If pregnancy occurs due to contraceptive failure, it is not the man who is punished but the woman because she started the pregnancy against her will. In fact, in reality, female contraceptives cannot achieve 100% effectiveness, and no one can guarantee that male contraceptives are absolutely effective. What’s more, taking medicine is a very serious matter, and its side effects may bring disastrous consequences. If the medicine needs to be taken for a long time, forgetting or missing to take it can still cause pregnancy. Is it more reliable for men to use condoms for contraception? There will definitely be some feminists who will shout out "If women can be sterilized, why can't men?" In fact, male sterilization is possible, and this method has appeared very early, but the consequences are different. For example, vasectomy can easily lead to blockage or even swelling; male hormones cannot be secreted, and men's health will inevitably be affected. Therefore, out of consideration for women and to ensure your own health, wearing Durex is the most desirable method. |
