How do you know if you are ovulating?

If you want to know when your ovulation period is, female friends can use ovulation test strips to test it. At the same time, the female body also undergoes changes during ovulation, which can be seen through subtle changes.

1. Basal body temperature detection method

Place the thermometer next to your pillow where you can easily reach it before going to bed. When you wake up the next day, before you get up and move around, place it under your tongue and measure the temperature for 3 minutes, and record it on the basal body temperature chart. If you have difficulty measuring your body temperature in the morning, you can measure it at a fixed time every day. Remember not to do strenuous exercise or drink hot or cold food half an hour before measurement.

The days of menstruation and sexual intercourse must be marked with additional signs. Conditions that may affect body temperature, such as fever, should also be specially recorded.

Women's basal body temperature is regular, just like their menstrual cycle.

The basal body temperature of a normal ovulating woman is based on the ovulation day, from the onset of menstruation to the ovulation day, and the low temperature period lasts about two weeks; the body temperature rises by 0.3℃-0.5℃ from the ovulation day to the next menstrual day, and the high temperature period also lasts about two weeks.

This body temperature curve that is low at the beginning and high at the end is called a biphasic body temperature curve, which indicates that the ovaries have normal ovulation function, and ovulation generally occurs before the body temperature rises or during the process of rising from low to high.

2. Changes in vaginal discharge

The main component of vaginal secretions is cervical mucus, which is controlled by hormones secreted by the ovaries. In the first half of the menstrual cycle, before ovulation, the amount gradually increases and becomes thinner and more translucent. When ovulation occurs, estrogen secretion reaches its peak, the amount of cervical mucus is the largest, its toughness is the greatest, and its appearance is as smooth as egg white.

During the ovulation period, the large amount of cervical mucus secretion can last for about 2-3 days. After ovulation, the secretion of progesterone prevents the large amount of cervical mucus secretion, vaginal secretions decrease, and menstruation occurs about 10 days later.
